A week is a looooong time to leave a new puppy you’ve just bonded with so we decided to have a few “play dates” just to get him acclimated to the new setting.

The first time we brought him to Lauren’s house he planted himself in the doorway sizing up the situation warily. We had to pick him up to get him inside. The second time he went in without a single complaint. And the third time he couldn’t WAIT to get inside to play with his friends! He had a great time playing with his new buddies at Lauren’s for his week at puppy camp. Lauren is very well schooled in animal (and human) behavior and encouraged positive behavior for our little guy during his stay. My dog has Addison’s disease and for those who don’t know,it’s a stress related disease. I am always very cautious about putting him in new situations because I don’t want to cause him to go into a crisis. Well, Lauren is on it! She always follows my medication regimen and food regimen for him. She notices so many things most people miss. When he had a little bit of weight gain(due to a specific medication)she noticed. When he acts a little “off“ she notices. Not many people do that.I find it so comforting that she pays that much attention to him. I couldn’t ask for anything more. I trust her implicitly!
Austin is always so happy to see her and exhausted when I get him home. That is a sure sign he had a great time!Also, I love the way she integrates the dogs together. She has a very specific way of doing that and they all get along. My dog is about 12 pounds and he plays with big dogs-no problems. You can tell they all enjoy being in her care. One last thing. I had to have surgery and Lauren was watching my dog. He needed to get on a new medication ASAP. She sent her wonderful boyfriend to the vet and he got it for me. He is also fabulous. I can’t thank her highly enough for that since I was not in a place to be driving to the vet.
Again, I cannot recommend her highly enough. If you’re lucky enough to have your dog in her care, your dog will be treated just like her own.

“Lauren was great. We were nervous at first about leaving our dog with a stranger. Yoshi is a rescue, still young and learning the rules. He’s had behavior issues coupled with fear and anxiety, and we worried about what would happen with other dogs or people he didn’t know if we weren’t there monitoring. Lauren’s experience with fostering and rescues made her the right choice for us, and it was just an overnight stay. The way Lauren explained how she would introduce her dogs slowly one at a time left me feeling confident that she had everything under control, and our dog wouldn’t be overwhelmed and lash out. Any questions I had or information I wanted was answered perfectly.
Pup wasn’t feeling too well for a day or two afterward, and Lauren gave me information about some of the neighbor’s plant he may have eaten that can cause mild digestive problems, and checked in to make sure everything was ok later. We later learned that at my mom’s house where we were staying that someone snuck almost their body weight in chicken when we weren’t looking, hence the upset stomach, but Lauren’s concern was still really sweet.
